People use WordPress for all type of site, from your regular blogs to magazine sites and portfolio site. It is also very easy to add new content to WordPress with no html knowledge required.
WordPress is extremely user-friendly, compared to some other cmses out there, which tend to be more robust and have a longer learning curve. The WordPress Support community is extremely helpful too, so incase you encounter any problems, you know exactly where to go!
If you use WordPress to power your site, you will have no problems of integrating your blog with your site, considering they will be one and the same thing. Think how much easier this will be!
